NASAA Certified Organic Pty Ltd (NCO) has ceased trading on Thursday 26 June 2025.
Following extensive consultation with stakeholders, the Board has initiated the execution of a Strategic Business Transition Plan to ensure a seamless handover for Certified Operators while strengthening long-term service capacity and the delivery of organic standards.
NCO Directors, Anthea Starr and Kim Morgan, were appointed to facilitate the implementation of this Plan and have worked tirelessly to secure the best possible outcome for the Company, its stakeholders, and the broader organic sector. Their leadership has been critical in steering this process, and their critical collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) has been instrumental to the success of the transition.
The Directors have been working extensively with DAFF and are deeply grateful for the significant support, resources, and industry insights provided. The successful execution on the Plan will maintain the integrity and international reputation of Australian organic certification. The support from DAFF will not only enhance the effectiveness of the transition but will also underpin broader initiatives to foster growth, transparency, and competitiveness in Australia and internationally.
In exploring the future direction of the organisation, the Directors consulted widely with farmers, primary producers, industry leaders, and DAFF, leading to the selection of ACO Certification Limited (ACO) as the preferred supporter. ACO’s scale, systems, and aligned values make it the ideal supporter for the ongoing needs of Certified Operators.
While the Company’s closure marks the end of an era that spanned over two decades, this Transition Plan enables continuity of service, reduces disruption, and reinforces the foundations for future development across the organic sector.
The Board extends its sincere thanks to all staff, stakeholders, and supporters for their commitment and loyal service. Further updates, including stakeholder engagement activities, will be provided as the transition progresses.

We understand that the current transition period may raise questions and concerns. To ensure your enquiries are directed appropriately and resolved efficiently, please see the following guidance:
For Creditors:
If you have concerns about outstanding payments, please email all correspondence to info@ncocertifiedorganic.com.au. These matters will be reviewed and responded to as the appropriate party is appointed to manage financial responsibilities.
For Operators:
If you are seeking clarification regarding the status of your certification or any certification-related requirements previously managed by NCO, please contact your chosen Certifying Body (CB).
If your audit has been completed by NCO but certification has not been finalised, we are requesting that operators provide, to your chosen CB, your most recent audit report to try to avoid the need for an additional audit. Your chosen CB will contact you to obtain written consent before requesting the audit report from the auditor.
For Auditors:
As part of the current transition process, please be advised of the following:
To reduce complexity for operators where an audit has been completed by NCO, but certification has not been finalised, the NCO Directors grant permission for auditors to provide audit reports directly to the requesting CB, provided the request includes the operator’s written consent. This will ensure compliance and transparency in the transfer process.
If you have concerns about outstanding payments, please email info@ncocertifiedorganic.com.au. These matters will be reviewed and responded to as the appropriate party is appointed to manage financial responsibilities.
